Germany says ‘stable France’ important for Europe after PM quits

Outrage after France lawmaker suggests deporting migrants to Atlantic islands

Germany said Monday that a “stable France” is an “important contribution to stability in Europe,” following the resignation of France’s new prime minister after less than a month in office.

Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius however insisted that “there is no reason to doubt that France is stable”, after Sebastien Lercornu’s abrupt resignation deepened the country’s political crisis.
