Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on Monday denounced a “betrayal” by world leaders for failing to act on climate change, as the UN released a major report on its impacts.

“The fact that the people in power still somehow live in denial, and actively move in the wrong direction, will eventually be seen for and understood as the unprecedented betrayal it is. It is just a matter of time,” Thunberg said in a statement to AFP, adding that it was getting “more and more impossible to ignore the climate crisis.”
