How to turn off “Allow AI to Remix Content” setting on all your TikTok videos

How to turn off "Allow AI to Remix Content" setting on all your TikTok videos

If you’re very familiar with the “Allow AI to remix content” setting on TikTok, you’ll agree that it’s always disabled. Having this feature enabled means your video and image can be used by TikTok’s AI for content remix. All these things will happen without your explicit permission. If you don’t want this to happen, now is certainly a good time for you to turn off the “Allow AI to Remix Content” setting on your TikTok content.

Why Turn Off the “Allow AI to Remix Content” Setting on Your TikTok Videos?

New reports show that TikTok has turned on the setting by default across all videos posted by creators. If you don’t know, this feature (a toggle) sits right in the privacy options of each content. Currently, the toggle is on for all content posted by creators, including years-old uploads.

Unfortunately, there’s currently no account-wide switch to stop this new action. To address it, all you need to do as a creator is to open your uploaded videos one by one. Below are a few steps you need to follow:

  • Open a video you already posted
  • Tap the three dots
  • Choose privacy settings
  • Flip the third slider off

With this new development, users have taken to various platforms to air their frustrations. One VTuber with six years of experience said cleaning up their backlog will take days. Another user, as noted by PiunikaWeb, said they spent over 60 minutes knocking out three years’ worth of uploads without yet finishing.

Another VTuber, who is also annoyed by the whole situation, tagged the issue as an “emergency roll call.” The affected TikTok user said, “TikTok is forcing all of us to allow AI to remix our videos. There is no way to remove it. Our content is being stolen for AI data on TikTok.”

Turn off the allow AI to Remix setting of TikTok

Industry experts are now calling on creators to pay attention to their uploads. A user advised users to check the TikTok content one by one and turn off the “Allow AI to Remix Content” setting.

Not the First Time AI Features Blindsided Creators

It’s worth knowing that this isn’t the first time AI features are set to blindside Creators. Last December, a similar issue happened on X. However, the X team quickly addressed the issue after being called out.

So far, TikTok has yet to make any public acknowledgement about this issue. But with the backlash increasing by the day, we’re hopeful of something positive in the coming days. To prevent TikTok’s AI from using your content explicitly, we recommend using the manual workaround above.
