ICJ: Climate change may ‘significantly impair’ human rights

The top UN court said Wednesday, in a landmark advisory opinion on climate change, that the devastating effects of the warming planet could have a major impact on human rights.

“The adverse effects of climate change… may significantly impair the enjoyment of certain human rights, including the right to life,” said International Court of Justice president Yuji Iwasawa.
