The United States has urged Israel to avoid civilian casualties in its war on Hamas but some will be inevitably hurt in the “messy” conflict, the White House said Tuesday.
“This is war. It is combat. It is bloody, ugly and it’s going to be messy and innocent civilians are going to be hurt going forward,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.
