Over the past few days, there have been a lot of rumors concerning the possibility that North Korea leader Kim Jong-un is dead. Although there hasn’t been any official release yet, many have concluded that he is dead. But the question remains: is Kim Jong-un really dead or alive?
South Korea And President Trump Claim Kim Jong-un Is Not Dead, But Alive
Amid speculations that Kim Jong-un is dead or alive, North Korea is still sending official gifts and letters to foreign leaders in the leader’s name. The president of the US, Donald Trump, has also come out to say news by CNN, about Kim’s health and death is fake and incorrect.
Recall that not long ago, there was a report that Washington was monitoring that the leader of North Korea was in danger of death after surgery. However, at a daily briefing on the Coronavirus pandemic, Donald Trump has come out to rubbish the report. Here’s what he said:
“I think it was a fake report by CNN.”
However, he didn’t say anything further until two days after the briefing when he said he hopes that the North Korea leader is well.
“I hope he’s not in medical trouble. I have gotten along very well with him,” Mr. Trump said on Thursday.
“Remember you would have been in a war with North Korea if I didn’t get elected president. We have a good relationship with North Korea, as good as you can have.”
South Korea officials, led by the Moon Chung-in, have also come out to say that Kim Jong-un is alive, well, and not dead. Moon Chung-in is the top foreign policy advisor to the president of South Korea, Moon Jae-in.
According to Moon:
“Our government position is firm, and Kim Jong Un is alive and well. He has been staying in the Wonsan area since April 13. No suspicious movements have so far been detected.”
What Has North Korea Said About Mr. Kim Been Dead?
Despite the assertion by South Korea officials that Kim is alive and not dead, most people are still yet to believe. That’s because the North Korea officials are yet to come out and make any release about the public appearance of Mr. Kim. Apart from that, there hasn’t been any public response to brighten claims about the leader’s health. When it comes to the country’s leadership, North Korea is usually a black hole. So, it’s no surprise they are yet to say anything to clear the air about Mr. Kim’s condition.
So far, it’s unclear whether Mr. Kim is alive or dead. However, we can only cross our fingers while we wait for the coming updates. In a country like North Korea, it’ll be hard to predict who will be the successor if Kim Jong-un is really dead. Is it going to be Kim Yo-jong, his only sister? How about the second in the country’s government hierarchy? While we can continue guessing, we’ll bring to you news as they unfold in our coming post.
