Russia on Thursday welcomed the ceasefire and hostage-release deal between Israel and Hamas, expressing hope that “actions” will follow the accord to end the two-year war.

“The fact that a ceasefire in Gaza has essentially been established cannot but be a source of general satisfaction. All these efforts are welcome,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

“We hope that signatures will be signed today, and that actions to implement the agreements will follow,” Peskov said.
