Moldova’s government on Wednesday said it rejected “propaganda statements” coming from Transnistria after pro-Russian rebel officials in the breakaway region appealed to Russia for “protection”.

The government “rejects the propaganda statements coming from Tiraspol and recalls that the Transnistrian region benefits from the policies of peace, security and economic integration with the European Union, which are beneficial for all citizens,” Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian wrote on Telegram.
