Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said Thursday that the US seizure of an oil tanker the day before targeted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro’s “regime,” which she accused of trafficking drugs to the United States.
“It was a successful operation directed by the president to ensure that we’re pushing back on a regime that is systematically covering and flooding our country with deadly drugs,” Noem told a congressional hearing.
