North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is unlikely to have been immunized against COVID-19, according to South Korea’s spy agency.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) told lawmakers in a closed-door briefing that it assumes Kim has not received COVID-19 vaccine inoculation due to “various circumstances,” according to multiple participants in the briefing.
Pyongyang has not brought any vaccine products into the country, but is beginning to recognize the need for vaccination, according to the NIS, citing a recent report by North Korean state media Rodong Sinmun that vaccination is effective in preventing the spread of the virus.
