Microsoft is addressing an issue affecting Microsoft Outlook being down and Teams after users experienced service disruptions early Monday.

Reports of Microsoft Outlook being down and other Microsoft platform issues began surfacing at around 8 a.m. Monday, according to Down Detector. By 11:24 a.m., the site logged a peak of 4,600 reports, with approximately 86% related to Outlook.

“We’re investigating an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar,” Microsoft announced on X (formerly Twitter) at 4 a.m. Eastern. “For more information, please refer to MO941162 in the admin center.”

Later, the company identified the root cause and began implementing a solution.

“We’ve identified a recent change which we believe has resulted in impact. We’ve started to revert the change and are investigating what additional actions are required to mitigate the issue,” Microsoft shared on X around 7 a.m. Eastern. “We’ve started to deploy a fix which is currently progressing through the affected environment. While this progresses, we’re beginning manual restarts on a subset of machines that are in an unhealthy state.”

By 11:56 a.m. Eastern, Microsoft reported that its fix had been applied to “approximately 98% of affected environments,” resolving most of the Microsoft Outlook down complaints.

Microsoft 365, formerly known as Office 365, is a subscription service offering access to tools like Word and Excel, along with other productivity applications. Reports of Microsoft Outlook down were among the most frequent issues raised during the outage.
