Residents of South Korea’s Baengnyeong Island have been told to evacuate, local officials told AFP, after Seoul’s defence ministry said North Korea had fired an artillery barrage in the area.
“We are making the evacuation announcements at the moment,” a local district official at the Baengnyeong Island told AFP, adding he had been told the South Korean military would conduct a naval drill shortly.
