Rescue teams searched for at least seven people early Tuesday after a major bridge in the US city of Baltimore collapsed when struck by a container ship, officials said.

One person was taken to hospital in “a very serious condition,” said Baltimore City Fire Department chief James Wallace, while a second was uninjured. “We may be looking for upwards of seven individuals.”
