A top Meta executive warned Wednesday it would not be in Europe’s interest to hit back at President Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs on countries opposing a US takeover of Greenland by targeting the tech industry.
“I think tech would be a particularly self-defeating place for Europe to retaliate,” Joel Kaplan, chief global affairs officer at Facebook owner Meta, said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Trump was expected to push his bid to take control of the Danish autonomous territory.
