If you’re familiar with OpenAI’s Sora, you’ll agree that it gives its free users the ability to generate up to 30 videos. Unfortunately, most of these users now face an issue that restricts them from enjoying the benefit. According to complaints across different platforms, Sora free users currently encounter a “limit reached” error. This issue occurs even though the affected users still have their video gens showing available.
Sora Free Users Can’t Generate Videos Due to a ‘Limit Reached’ Error
The ‘limit reached’ error for Sora free users started around the 1st of April, as reported by PiunikaWeb. This issue affects several different people, who now believe it’s the end of the road for free generations on Sora. One Reddit user said, “I Think It Might Be Over for Free Users.”
According to a Reddit user, the issue is restricting him from generating any video. The user said, “I can’t generate anything. It keeps saying something went wrong.” Another user, Darkshadow237, replied that it’s the same issue every free user encounters.
Is it Truly Over for Free Generations on Sora?
A refresher that OpenAI announced late March that the Sora app and web experiences will end for good on April 26. The same announcement says the API version of the system will still function until September for regular users.
So far, the ‘limit reached error’ on Sora only affects free users. Today, paid users still enjoy the system without any restrictions. Some users who recently switched to a paid plan mentioned that they can generate videos again at a very fast rate.
Based on the reports circulating online, it’s looking as if free accounts have been cut off completely. But we cannot conclude just yet, as we still need to wait for the OpenAI team to make an official announcement or at least say something about the issue.
So far, OpenAI has yet to provide any direct comment on the ‘limit reached error’ faced by Sora free users. Instead, their support page has only emphasized the deadline for the close of business, which is April 26. We’ll continue to keep our eyes on the OpenAI team for an update regarding the issue. Once we find any new information, we’ll keep you posted about it.
