Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is extending his reign as the world’s richest man, with his net worth expected to outstrip the rest of the top earners in 2022.

According to the latest Forbes list, Musk’s net worth has increased to $282 billion, making him more than $100 billion richer than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose net worth is $183.6 billion, according to the Daily Mail.

Musk was one of the biggest winners from the Covid-19 pandemic, with a net worth of just $26.6 billion at the start of 2020.

Musk’s wealth increased by more than $110 billion in 2020, a record for anyone in Forbes’ history of tracking such figures.

According to the report, Musk will gain another $90 billion in 2021 after knocking Bezos off the top of the Forbes rich list to begin the year.

According to the report, Musk is now $115 billion richer than LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, who is the world’s third richest man with a net worth of $167.4 billion.

He also outperforms Microsoft co-founders Bill Gates ($134.2 billion) and Steve Ballmer ($97 billion), according to the report.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal recently announced that Musk has been appointed to the microblogging platform’s board of directors.
