Tesla, Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, is reportedly conducting an internal investigation into executive Omead Afshar, who is in charge of overseeing the construction and production of Giga Texas.

The internal investigation revolves around the executive’s involvement in a scheme to obtain difficult-to-find construction materials. According to the report, these materials were identified as suspicious, citing Bloomberg, Teslarati reported.

According to unnamed sources, Tesla has already fired some employees in connection with the investigation. They also stated that Tesla intends to part ways with the executive, most likely via a leave of absence.

The investigation was led by Tesla’s Acting Head of Legal, David Searle, according to the report. The goal is to determine whether or not Musk intended to use a special type of glass for personal use.

Currently, global supply chain disruptions make this specific glass difficult to obtain. According to the article, Tesla’s reputation made it easier for them to obtain the in-demand materials.

According to the report, Afshar requested the creation of a purchase order for glass for a secret project.

Meanwhile, Tesla recently laid off 229 annotation employees from its Autopilot team and closed one of its US offices.
