The top Republican in the US Senate on Thursday accused President Joe Biden’s Democrats of seeking to use the anniversary of last year’s riot at the US Capitol for political gain.
With Biden planning a major address on the scene of the mayhem, Senator Mitch McConnell said January 6 had been a “dark day” but called it “stunning to see some Washington Democrats try to exploit this anniversary.”
