TOPCARS, located in Texas, USA, manufactures and sells automotive accessories that appeal to Tesla drivers. They sell up to hundreds of Tesla accessories, and they offer customized products for customers in North America and Europe.

TOPCARS is both a newcomer to the neighborhood and an experienced player in the e-commerce game. The company itself is only launching in 2021. However, 2 years ago TOPCARS founder John murphy conducted an experiment on Amazon to customize some Tesla Model Y accessories. Although it was only early days, he could see immediate success. This developed into a side business for about 1 year, growing organically until TOPCARS was born. murphy unknowingly laid the perfect foundation to expand the business.

While most of TOPCARS’ 10 employees are based in the US, the company also has an office in the UK. Although most of its clients are located in the United States, during the year the company decided to focus more on the European market.

TOPCARS reported that from October 2021 to October 2022, they experienced a significant increase in performance. “In light of this, the company has focused on optimizing all channels. Optimizing the Amazon marketplace is part of our 22-year growth strategy for the European and U.S. markets,” John told us. The company has not focused much on Amazon over the past year but knows it is an untapped resource.

“To keep the business successful, we’ve been expanding our product range and staying relevant. We’re focused on the accessories that anyone who owns a Tesla would want. That’s our niche,” John said. “To continue to move forward, we’re focused on doing more customization over the next 12 months. We’re adding new products, we’re making improvements in all areas, and we’re not slowing down. We know we need a solution provider to support our growth.

The company reports that it has experienced significant growth in the last 12 months. But with that came a lot of questions. “Because of the increase in size, we had to revamp various work processes in the company, including scheduling between departments, order management, manufacturing processes, customer service, employee benefits, and website design. We had to look at it from all angles, and any of those aspects helped us grow.

With the growing popularity of online shopping, it was imperative for Murphy, who is focused on providing customers with quality Tesla parts, on getting the model right.

In the last 12 months, people’s perception of the marketplace has changed,” he says. It’s different from what it was in the past. Everyone should rethink their approach, and if you’re already in the market, it’s a much easier process if you actively make changes to help you. We never did that and as a result, we spent a lot of extra time dealing with it and things didn’t get done. We should have done this a long time ago.”

At a time when automotive manufacturing is in decline in Western markets, what’s next John and his team of 10 are looking to the future and are already preparing for the impact new technology may have on their business.
