President Donald Trump said Friday that his choice for the next Federal Reserve chairman, Kevin Warsh, is keen on lowering interest rates — a key demand that the US leader has been pushing for.

“He certainly wants to cut rates. I’ve been watching him for a long time,” Trump said at the White House. But Trump added that he did not wish to question Warsh on whether he would commit to doing so.
