US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would likely announce his pick to replace outgoing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell “early next year.”
“We’ll be announcing somebody probably early next year for the new chairman of the Fed,” Trump said at a meeting of his cabinet, two days after telling reporters on Air Force One that he had decided on a pick.
Not sure Trump has the authority to fire Powell and didn’t hear Powell saying he is resigning. But if Netanyahu orders Trump to do it, it could happen.
