Users will be charged $19.99 per month for verification badge on Twitter.

According to a report posted by The Verge, Elon Musk gave employees their first deadline: meet his deadline for starting paid verification on the platform or leave immediately.

Twitter Blue, the company’s $4.99 per month optional subscription that unlocks additional features, will be phased out in favour of a more expensive subscription that also verifies users.

According to the report, verified users will have 90 days to subscribe to the current plan in order to keep their blue checkmark.

The team members were informed that failure to launch the feature by the deadline of November 7 would result in termination.

The Twitter Blue subscription was made widely available more than a year ago as a way to read articles from certain publishers without advertisements and make other changes to the app, such as changing the colour of the app’s icon on the home screen.

Musk wants subscriptions to grow to cover half of the company’s total revenue.

Musk recently stated that the platform’s 280-character limit could be expanded or even eliminated.

He also confirmed that the company he works for is looking into increasing the length of videos so that users can post longer videos.
