British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed Donald Trump’s efforts as bringing “us closer than ever before to ending Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine”, after the US president held talks with Vladimir Putin.
“While progress has been made, the next step must be further talks” involving Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, Starmer said in a statement following a debrief with Trump and other European leaders, the morning after the Alaska summit failed to secure a ceasefire.
