Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country lacked “sufficient” air defences that could have stopped a Russian strike on the city of Chernigiv that killed at least nine people on Wednesday.

“This would not have happened if Ukraine had received sufficient air defence equipment and if the world’s determination to resist Russian terror had been sufficient,” Zelensky said on social media.
