US Fed Chair Powell says ‘inflation is still too high’

US inflation has eased substantially while the labor market remains strong, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday, but “inflation is still too high.”

Speaking at a press conference after the Fed’s latest decision to hold interest rates at a 23-year high for a fifth straight meeting, Powell added: “Ongoing progress in bringing it down is not assured, and the path forward is uncertain.”
