The United States said Tuesday it was helping some 230 citizens leave Israel following the war the two allies launched against Iran.

The State Department has assisted more than 130 American citizens leave Israel since the war, with another 100 American citizens expected to depart Tuesday, a department official said.

The State Department on Monday urged Americans in all of the Middle East from Egypt eastward to leave commercially, although airports are shut down or severely restricted across much of the region.
