US Vice President Joe Biden has raised eyebrows after claiming that a “new world order” would be established soon and that the US would be the one to lead it.

During a speech at the Business Roundtable’s CEO Quarterly Meeting on Monday, Biden claimed that the world was at “an inflection point” that “occurs every three or four generations” and that it was up to the United States to determine the outcome, according to RT.

“As one of the top military people said to me in a security meeting the other day, 60 million people died between 1900 and 1946, and since then we’ve established a liberal world order and that had not happened in a long while,” the president said.

The remark sparked outrage in the United States and around the world, with ‘New World Order’ becoming one of Twitter’s trending topics on Monday.

Former US President George H.W. Bush, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair have all used the term “new world order” to refer to a period of great global change, according to RT.

However, for decades, the phrase has also been the subject of a major conspiracy theory alleging a secret, elitist plot to establish an oppressive global government.
