Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issues an open threat to invade Israel in support of the Palestinians (video below).
“We must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these things to Palestine,” says Erdogan, one of the most bitter critics of Israel on the international stage, referring to the war against Hamas in Gaza.
“Just as we entered [Nagorno-]Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we might do the same to them. There is nothing we can’t do. We must only be strong.”
Israel, in turn, warned that his fate could mirror that of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, who was executed by hanging.
“Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein by threatening to attack Israel. He should remember what happened there and how it ended,’ Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Turkey is a member of NATO, which includes the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, and other close allies of Israel.
