Unvaccinated residents in regional New South Wales, where there are fewer restrictions, will be forced back into lockdown and lose their freedoms when the state achieves 70% double-dose vaccination coverage, according to NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro.

Those who remain unvaccinated against COVID-19, according to New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro, will have no further freedom “unless you get vaccinated.”

This includes people living in parts of regional NSW that are currently open, with the unvaccinated set to lose their freedoms in those areas.

“The 70 per cent roadmap does apply to the whole state – so there will be individuals in regional and rural NSW who will lose their freedoms on the 11th of October,” Barilaro said.

John Barilaro also announced a minor change to the NSW reopening timeline, with travel to the regions from metropolitan areas now expected to be based on an 80 percent vaccination rate rather than the previously stated 70%.
