President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed confidence the United States will “win” a trade war with the European Union, as the two economic superpowers announced escalating tariffs.
“We’re going to win that financial battle,” Trump said at a White House meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin the day US tariffs on steel and aluminum took effect and the EU promised countermeasures.
