UPDATE: According to police, seven people were killed in the Covenant School shooting in Nashville: three children, three adults, and the shooter, a 28-year-old woman.
An active shooter situation is unfolding at the Covenant School in Nashville, as confirmed by local officials and witnesses who reported the incident.
Emergency services and police are responding to the situation, with limited information available at present. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday morning, prompting officers to respond to the school’s address.
Officers were notified of a shooter at the Covenant School just before 10:30 a.m., which is when the incident commenced, NY Post reported.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has confirmed that three students and the shooter have lost their lives.
Nashville fire department confirms reports of an active shooter at Covenant School in the city
“We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School,” the Nashville Fire Department tweeted.
According to the department, there are several patients in need of medical attention at the Covenant School.
“Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time. This is an active scene,” the officials stated.
The Covenant School is a private Christian school in Nashville that caters to 200 students from Preschool through 6th grade.
A location for reuniting parents with their children who go to The Covenant School at 33 Burton Hills Blvd has been set up at 2100 Woodmont Blvd, which is the Woodmont Baptist Church.
“My husband was driving by and saw all the emergency vehicles arriving. My daughter’s high school nearby is on lockdown,” said one person on Twitter.

The number of other injured individuals was unknown
As of the time of writing, the incident has resulted in three reported fatalities, including the suspected shooter, NY Post reported.
“The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead,” Nashville Police said in a tweet.
Scripps News Nashville has reported that three children were shot at The Covenant School. However, no information is available regarding the state of their injuries.
Furthermore, the exact count of injured individuals is also unknown.
According to a tweet by the police, the Media Staging Area is located at 1A Burton Hills Blvd.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is also on Mass Casualty Alert, local news outlets reported.
At this time, the police have not publicly identified the shooter or the victims.
