One woman, Bhoomi Chauhan, who had planned to fly to London, narrowly escaped the tragic Air India plane crash after missing her flight by just 10 minutes due to heavy traffic.

One of the most devastating aviation disasters in recent memory unfolded on June 12, 2025, shaking the nation to its core. An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad. According to Reuters, the plane was carrying 242 people — including 217 adults and 11 children. Air India confirmed the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian.

The official number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed, but so far, only one person is known to have survived. Among the countless heartbreaking stories surrounding this disaster, one woman’s narrow escape stands out — missing the doomed flight by just 10 minutes.

Bhoomi Chauhan Misses Air India Flight by 10 Minutes

Bhoomi Chauhan had been scheduled to board the same Air India flight but missed it after getting caught in heavy traffic. Those 10 minutes turned out to be the difference between life and death. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed just minutes after takeoff, according to reports from Republic TV.

Her Emotional Reaction After the Narrow Escape

Reacting to the horrifying news, Bhoomi Chauhan said she was in a state of complete shock. The realization that she narrowly escaped death left her trembling and speechless. The flight had tragically crashed into the hostel of a nearby medical college during lunchtime, injuring over 50 people and claiming at least five lives on the ground.

“I am completely devastated after hearing about the loss. My body is literally shivering. I am not being able to talk. My mind is totally blank now after hearing all that has happened,” said Bhoomi.

Bhoomi Chauhan Credits Divine Intervention

Originally from India but now living in London with her husband, Bhoomi Chauhan was traveling solo and had planned to return on the Air India flight that crashed. Her cab reached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 1:30 PM — 10 minutes too late to board. The aircraft went down at approximately 1:38 PM. Bhoomi believes divine forces, especially her faith in Ganpati Bappa, spared her life.

“My mind is totally blank. I am thankful to God. My Ganpati Bappa saved me… Just because of those 10 minutes, I could not board the flight. I don’t know how to explain this,” she said, visibly shaken.

Investigation Continues Into Air India Crash

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the Air India crash. Rescue teams are actively helping the injured while aviation experts from both Boeing and India analyze the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. The only confirmed survivor, Ramesh Vishwaskumar, was seated near the emergency exit and reportedly jumped from the aircraft just before it hit the ground.

The story of Bhoomi Chauhan — who narrowly escaped by a matter of 10 minutes — has gone viral, offering a haunting reminder of how thin the line can be between life and death.
