Biden calls US inflation figures ‘unacceptably high’ but out-of-date

The latest surge in US inflation figures is “unacceptably high” but does not reflect recent improvements, President Joe Biden said Wednesday in response to consumer price increases hitting a new 40-year high.

“While today’s headline inflation reading is unacceptably high, it is also out-of-date,” Biden said in a statement. “Today’s data does not reflect the full impact of nearly 30 days of decreases in gas prices.”
