Czechs report hottest September on record

Last month was the hottest September since records began in 1775, the Czech Republic‘s weather service said on Tuesday.

“The average temperature… for the month was 19.6 degrees Celsius (67 degrees Fahrenheit),” the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute said in a statement.

It added the average temperature was 3.6 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 reference period and 4.4 degrees above 1775-2014.

September 2023 was the hottest on record in many countries, including Britain, France, Japan as well as in the republic’s Central European neighbours Austria, Germany and Poland.
