The dollar soared against the British pound Thursday after the US Federal Reserve hiked interest rates and indicated they would go higher than expected to combat sky-high inflation.

In morning London deals, the pound sank 1.2 percent to $1.1254, also ahead of an expected bumper rate hike from the Bank of England.
