A small fire broke out on the third floor of New Orleans City Hall on Tuesday and was quickly extinguished.

New Orleans city hall was evacuated after reports of a fire inside the city’s data center on the third floor.

A small fire in New Orleans City Hall’s third-floor data centre was quickly extinguished, according to City Councilman.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire at the City Hall building.

City officials announced that the city’s websites were down within minutes after fire broke out.

“All nola.gov websites are currently down right now, including ready.nola.gov,” a post on the city’s Facebook page says. “We’ll be communicating important Hurricane #Ida information via social media and over text. Text NOLAREADY to 77295.”

City Hall, like the rest of the city buildings, is without power as a result of Hurricane Ida and must rely on generators to keep the lights on.
