According to the latest reports, Gmail is down again, emails are not delivering to recipients and bouncing back. Users are seeing the following message when trying to send email:
“http://mx.google.com rejected your message to the following email addresses”
The address you sent your message to wasn’t found at the destination domain. It might be misspelled or it might not exist. Try to fix the problem by doing one or more of the following:
“We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a significant subset of users,” Google said on its website shortly before 3:30 p.m. CT. “The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior.”
DownDetector site shows a major spike in ‘reported problems’ around 3 PM EST. Most users report they are encountering problems when ‘receiving messages’.
A user on Twitter said, “Have just realised my POP3 accounts haven’t been working since Gmail went down yesterday. Thought my inbox had been a bit quiet…”
Another user tweeted, “A great indicator of how high unemployment is right now is how few of you are complaining about Gmail being down.”
Google is scheduled to issue an update around 6:00 p.m. (EST) with more details on when service will be restored.
