If you’ve ever used Gemini Pro before, you certainly know that the system gives users a flat-rate number of requests. Initially, subscribers receive a fixed daily allowance, such as 100 queries per day. Today, however, it seems users no longer enjoy this benefit. As a result, many users are now planning to cancel their Google Gemini Pro subscriptions due to usage limits.
Google Gemini Pro users cancelled their subscription due to usage limits
Following the I/O 2026 event, Google quietly rolled out new usage limits for the Gemini Pro plan. However, it seems this new development doesn’t sit well with most subscribers. According to reports, the affected users noted that they only get limited access to prompts and video generations. Before, they used to get a fixed daily allowance, up to 100 queries. But now, the AI system locks the users out of service as soon as they deplete their limited quotas.
When describing the issue, a Google Gemini Pro user on Reddit mentioned that he was forced to cancel his subscription due to usage limits. The user said: “I canceled my Pro sub today; The new “5-hour compute limit” is completely unusable.”
Today, more people are planning to cancel their subscription due to this limit issue. A good example is Intellect5 on the r/GeminiAI. The user said: “Whenever I want to use Gemini, I find it saying I reached my limit after almost 5 prompts in a day, when before I never hit my limit.” Because of usage limits, the Google Gemini Pro user said he wants to cancel his subscription.

Further research shows that the new development is connected to a new compute model used by Google. This dynamic, compute-based token system deducts credits quickly for long chats and complex prompts. This explains why users now get locked out of the service quickly. Asking the system for a summary of a single document consumes roughly one-quarter of usage, as noted by an X user. Another user mentioned that turning on the personalization feature even drains the limit faster.
Google hasn’t acknowledged this issue yet
For now, Google hasn’t publicly spoken about this new development. As such, we don’t know exactly what the company has in mind to address this issue.
But one thing we know for sure is that if nothing is done, more Google Gemini Pro user will cancel their subscription due to usage limits. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update this post as soon as Google says something about it.
