French President Emmanuel Macron pushed back on Thursday at the suggestion Hungary’s Viktor Orban was enticed into dropping his veto on a massive aid deal for Ukraine.

“Hungary received no gift,” Macron told reporters after a summit in Brussels agreed the 50-billion-euro aid deal, saying the Hungarian leader simply received assurances his country would be treated fairly by the EU.
