Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday congratulated Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on winning a third term as president with 89.6 percent of the vote in the Arab world’s most populous nation.
“Your convincing victory in the elections was a clear indication of the widespread recognition of your merits in addressing the pressing socio-economic and foreign policy challenges facing Egypt,” Putin said in a congratulatory message to Sisi, according to the Kremlin.
