Another train derailment in the US – On Friday morning, a freight train derailed in Riverdale, CBS News reported. Three cars were affected, with two of them ending up on their sides. No injuries were reported as the crews working nearby were at a safe distance from the train.
The incident did not result in any chemical leaks or necessitate evacuations. The derailment occurred close to a residential area, near the intersection of 140th and School streets.

Ohio train derailment
The train derailment close to the Ohio-Pennsylvania border sparked a national discussion on railway safety as authorities chose to evacuate thousands of individuals following their decision to detonate multiple tank cars filled with vinyl chloride, a gas commonly employed in plastic manufacturing, due to concerns over possible explosions.
A few days after the derailment, the town was enveloped in a towering column of black smoke caused by a subsequent fire, which resulted from the spillage of several other dangerous chemicals, including butyl acrylate, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, ethylhexyl acrylate, and isobutylene. The company revealed in February that the derailment had caused contamination of no less than 15,000 pounds of soil and 1.1 million gallons of water.
