Ukraine said Monday it had detained a Russian serviceman wearing civilian clothes in the recently recaptured region of Kherson, where Moscow said it had withdrawn troops last week.

“Officers of the Security Service detained a Russian serviceman in liberated Kherson. The man was dressed in civilian clothes and tried to pretend to be a ‘local’. After talking with SBU officers, he admitted that he was a professional soldier from the 69th brigade of the Russian armed forces,” the SBU intelligence service said in a statement.
