Elon Musk criticized the ‘business records’ case led by NYC District Attorney Alvin Bragg against Trump as a “corruption of law” and “lawfare” on Monday.

Musk’s response follows explanation of NY Alvin Bragg case against Trump case by Vivek Ramaswamy

Musk’s remarks came after a brief explanation of the case by former GOP candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Vivek described the trial and prosecution as a “joke” and “destructive to our country.”

Ramaswamy posted on X that Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump is based on the absurd legal argument that a candidate should use campaign funds for personal payments. However, if Trump had followed that, they would certainly be pursuing him for it.

“This isn’t the pursuit of justice, it’s a political persecution that is tearing our country apart,” he added.

Musk replied to his post, “This case is obviously a corruption of the law. Lawfare.”

He added that the case involves Trump facing felony charges for allegedly falsifying business documents connected to supposed “hush money” payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump’s hush money trial

Donald Trump is currently in a New York courtroom for his criminal trial involving hush money payments. The judge ruled that the “Access Hollywood” tape cannot be shown to jurors, but a model who claims to have had an affair with Trump can testify. Prosecutors have requested a fine for Trump due to violations of a gag order, CNN reported.

Last year, Trump was charged with 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records in connection with a hush money scheme before the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty. This trial marks the first time a former US president has faced criminal charges.

Trump is also facing three other criminal cases while being the presumptive GOP nominee for the 2024 election. This trial might be the only one to go before a jury before the election, and if convicted, Trump could potentially face jail time.
