Claude AI down reports are increasing after Anthropic confirmed a broader service disruption affecting several of its products.
In its latest status update, Anthropic said it is investigating degraded performance across Claude.ai, platform.claude.com, the Claude API, Claude Code and Claude Cowork. The company posted the update at 14:30 UTC on September 29.
Earlier, Anthropic said the issue was causing elevated error rates on Claude.ai, including the desktop and mobile apps, as well as Claude Code and Claude Cowork.
Anthropic expands outage investigation
At 14:28 UTC, the company added that some requests to the Claude API were also returning errors.
Users may experience failed requests, problems loading or sending conversations, repeated sign-in prompts or generally degraded performance. Anthropic said retrying a failed request may work in some cases while engineers continue investigating.
Reports of the outage have also surfaced on social media.

The latest update suggests the disruption is broader than initially reported, with Anthropic now listing its developer platform and API among the affected services.
The company has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage or provided an estimated recovery time. Anthropic said it will share another update as soon as more information is available.
