Here’s why you can’t play Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 on iPhone

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 IPA file download

Epic Games has released the much-awaited Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4. It brings a bunch of new challenges, game modes, cosmetics, and gifts. It is available for download on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices. Unfortunately, it’s not available on iPhones. Epic Games and Apple are locked in an epic battle, and the iPhone maker has kicked Fortnite out of the App Store.

Why Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 is not on iPhone

Apple requires apps on the App Store to use its in-app billing for payments. The Cupertino company takes a cut of the revenue, which could be as high as 30%. To bypass Apple’s payment method, Epic Games rolled out a direct payment feature to Fortnite and offered users a discount. Apple responded by kicking the app out of the App Store for violating its guidelines.

Epic Games tried to convince Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Roger to issue a temporary restraining order preventing Apple from removing Fortnite from the App Store. The judge didn’t issue the restraining order, but declared that Apple cannot interfere with Epic Games’ developer tools such as the Unreal Engine.

Why can’t Epic release Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 IPA file?

Since Fortnite is no longer available in the App Store, people who have downloaded it will be stuck on the Season 3. They will not get the Season 4, though some enthusiastic users are looking for the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 IPA file.

One user on Reddit is wondering why can’t Epic Games release the Season 4 IPA file for iOS and let users download and sign it themselves, just like Cydia Impactor. Epic can’t do it because it would require you to jailbreak iOS to bypass Apple’s security layers. And also because Fortnite does not work on jailbroken iPhones.

Playing it on other devices

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 is available on other devices such as Android, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you want to play it on Android, you can get it directly from Epic Games app or from the Samsung Galaxy Store if you own a Samsung device. It’s no longer available in Google Play Store.

If you want to play the older Season 3 on your iPhone, here’s how you can re-download it from the App Store. Mac owners can play the new Chapter 2 Season 4 through Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service,
