A French frigate shot down a drone that was threatening a Norwegian-flagged tanker in an attack claimed by Huthi rebels off Yemen’s coast in the Red Sea, the defence ministry said Tuesday.
The Languedoc frigate, “which was patrolling in the area, intercepted and destroyed a drone directly threatening the Strinda,” the defence ministry said in a statement, adding the warship moved to protect the vessel to prevent an “attempted hijacking”.
