GTA 7 release date, location, other rumors

GTA 7 release date

Fans can’t wait to know the release date of GTA 7 and look forward to hearing updates.

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series has a huge following and is known for introducing groundbreaking features with each new game. When GTA 5 was released, it made over $1 billion in just the first three days. Fans believe enough time has passed since the last release. Some even believe Rockstar might not continue with the franchise after GTA 6.

Here are some rumors and other scoop we found on the internet related to GTA 7, as well as from the latest news.

GTA 7 expected release date

Everyone wants to know the release dates for future versions of Grand Theft Auto, but Rockstar Games keeps this information secret and avoids publicizing it.

During an interview last Thursday at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the increasing gap between game releases.

Zelnick discussed the missing PC version and GTA VI’s potential, highlighting the franchise’s evolution and massive success, with the GTA V trailer breaking records. He emphasized the need to deliver a perfect game to capitalize on this anticipation.

Rockstar aims to avoid another long gap between the release

During the discussion, he was asked about the future of the “Grand Theft Auto” series. When asked about “GTA VII,” Zelnick playfully hinted at its possibility. Specifically, he was questioned about whether Rockstar aims to avoid another long gap like the 12 years between GTA V and GTA VI.

“It is important to bear in mind that it’s not like Rockstar put out GTA V and sat on their hands for 12 years, right? We launched GTA Online. That’s turned into a massive, living, breathing ecosystem which continues to perform and grow to this day,” he began.

“So the label totally transformed from a label that made big, standalone, monolithic, games […] to a label that’s now in the live services business. I do think given the scale of that label, it’s a huge company itself. There isn’t much more to be done.”

“This isn’t a situation where it is 12 years of girth of product. There’s 12 years where Rockstar has been putting out a mass amount of content. And another little title called Red Dead [2].”

It’s just a brief hint about GTA 7 but it’s good to know that Rockstar is actively working on various projects.

GTA 7 could be released in 2028 based on past trends

Even without an official announcement, there are many guesses about the release dates of GTA 6 and GTA 7. Some sources predict Rockstar will release GTA 6 in 2023. But we estimate it will come out in 2024 or 2025. As for GTA 7, Rockstar has not announced an exact release date yet. However, they will likely release it by 2028 based on past trends.

GTA 7 gameplay, characters and features

According to Leslie Benzies, ex-president of Rockstar Games, developers have many great ideas for the next 45 years of games. One major idea is changing the main character.

While previous GTA games featured a single protagonist, GTA V expanded this with multiple protagonists. In GTA VI, one of the main characters might be a woman. As the head writer mentioned they have long considered introducing a female character. Therefore, we can expect something extraordinary from the developers in GTA 7.

Expected location

As always, GTA 7’s main action will unfold in a city with a fictional name but a real-world prototype. Developers hinted they might not limit the game to the American continent. And the game’s area could be much more extensive than in previous series. Expect a huge variety of cars, motorcycles, helicopters, airplanes, bicycles, and other modes of transport.

Additionally, developers are considering bringing together all the past cities, allowing players to travel freely between them. With each series expanding the game world, GTA 7 might feature several cities or even states, including Los Santos, Vice City, and Liberty City.
