Pentagon authorities said last week that aliens could be visiting our solar system and sending smaller probes to Earth. They compared it to missions conducted by NASA when studying other planets, NY Post reported.
Draft document written by Pentagon officials suggests possibilities of aliens visiting earth
A draft document written by Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, and Abraham Loeb, chairman of Harvard University’s astronomy department, suggested the possibility.
The document, which was released on March 7, examines the physical limitations of unidentified aerial phenomena.
“An artificial interstellar object could potentially be a parent craft that releases many small probes during its close passage to Earth, an operational construct not too dissimilar from NASA missions,” the report read.
“These ‘dandelion seeds’ could be separated from the parent craft by the tidal gravitational force of the Sun or by a maneuvering capability.”
Established in July 2022, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is responsible for monitoring objects in the sky, water, and space, including those capable of transitioning between domains.
Congress tasked NASA with discovering objects near Earth
The report explains that Congress tasked NASA with detecting 90% of objects larger than 140 meters near Earth in 2005, which led to the development of Pan-STARRS telescopes.
On October 19, 2017, the Pan-STARRS detected a peculiar interstellar object, named ‘Oumuamua, which had a cigar-shaped appearance and lacked a cometary tail, leading scientists to consider it artificial.
The report also mentioned the discovery of NASA’s rocket booster 2020 SO three years later, which also did not have a cometary trail.
Additionally, the report noted that six months prior to ‘Oumuamua’s closest approach to Earth, an interstellar meteor called IM2, with a size of one meter, collided with Earth and displayed the same speed relative to the Sun at large distances and a similar shape to ‘Oumuamua.
“With proper design, these tiny probes would reach the Earth or other solar system planets for exploration, as the parent craft passes by within a fraction of the Earth-Sun separation — just like ‘Oumuamua’ did,” according to the officials.
“Astronomers would not be able to notice the spray of mini probes because they do not reflect enough sunlight for existing survey telescopes to notice them,” the report stated.
