Will there be a Plexiglass between Trump and Biden in next debate?

Trump Biden Debate Plexiglass

As the world gears up for a second wave of coronavirus, many people have suggested that there should be plexiglass between Trump and Biden during the next presidential debate. These suggestions came in the wake of Donald Trump being diagnosed with coronavirus shortly after the first presidential debate. After Donald Trump and the first lady were diagnosed with the virus, anxiety, and panic plagued citizens of the United States. This anxiety continued till Biden tweeted his results for coronavirus came back negative.

Raised concerns for the next Biden-Trump debate

He tweeted the following, “I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern. I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands.”  Joe Biden has also been highly praised for his role in raising awareness regarding wearing masks. He is often seen urging the public to wear masks and exercise necessary precautions on his twitter.

His recent tweet stated, “Be a patriot. Do your part. Wearing a mask will protect you. But it will also protect those around you — your mom, your dad, your son, your daughter, your neighbor, your co-worker. Don’t just do it for yourself. Do it for the people you love.

The debate commission has acknowledged the Biden campaign’s ‘health and safety’ objections for the presidential debate.  According to rumors, Biden’s campaign has also made a request for the arrangement of plexiglass to be placed between Trump and Biden during the duration of the debate.

Plexiglass to be placed in the next Presidential debate?

The Commission on Presidential Debates has also accepted the demand for Kamala Harris and Mike Pence to be seated at a distance 12 feet apart at the vice presidential debate next week. This was done after the Biden campaign urged the Commission to acknowledge raised health and safety objections to the original spacing between the two candidates because of recent COVID-19 hysteria. The demand for plexiglass is supposed to be a protective layer between Trump and Biden during the next debate.

A source revealed that the Biden campaign officials highlighted the issue of candidate positioning as a “very serious concern.” The source also said that the campaign was vocal regarding the unease over the lack of mask-wearing enforcement during the presidential debate that took place in Cleveland. The source also said that the commission and the Trump campaign is appreciative of the 7-foot spacing.

Tim Murtaugh,  the official spokesman for the Trump campaign told Politico that the campaign would collaborate to establish a middle ground. “We are open to more space between the candidates, which we will be happy to negotiate,” Murtaugh said.
