Precious metal prices sink further, silver down more than 30%

A sell-off in precious metals accelerated Friday after President Donald Trump’s nomination of Kevin Warsh to lead the Federal Reserve eased worries about central bank independence, boosting the dollar.

Near 1830 GMT, gold prices were down more than 12 percent at $4,724,80 per ounce, while silver slumped more than 31 percent to $79.30 an ounce.
